Why BC 198? – Because I want to try something new. I have already experienced disc jockeying and community immersions. So this time I will explore TV internship.
Ilene and I applied in RCTV Make My Trip Travel TV – it used to broadcast different personalities, food, lifestyle and the like. However, the staff decided to change its format into a combination of sports, destinations and outdoor activities – Make My Trip Travel as it is. Fortunately, our supervisor, Mr. Angan accepted us without any doubt I guess. He kept on saying that student interns from UP are the best among others. I don’t know if he was trying to put too much pressure on our back but it motivated us to give our full effort in every task. Speaking of which, he gave Ilene and I some or shall I say a lot of tasks already. It doesn’t mean I hate him for that though. Our supervisor is very kind really. Perhaps he's just doing his job, you know. Anyway, we must prepare a storyboard in every topic assigned to us. I got six – have to finish all of it this week. I’m quite nervous because making a storyboard is, like, sooo 2012. I’m not even sure if our teacher discussed it or merely mentioned it. Storyboard. Feature news. What to do? I was like come on CJ, just do it! Good thing the video editor, Kuya Archie showed us some clips and gave us tips at the same time.
The next thing Mr. Angan mentioned was a bit of relief. A non- denominational Bible believing center from San Francisco in Northern California, the Liberty Christian Center will come to visit in Cebu City to bless the lives of people to come to know the love of Christ from May five until nine. It sounds too religious, I know. Anyhow, we will guide the group for that entire week. To hold an event as such means food and travel. Hooray! We still have to document it of course. It’ll be fulfilling for sure. Meanwhile, Ilene and I made a temporary itinerary. Also, we still have to send a letter of intent regarding the event to the Cebu City governor and manage the restaurant reservations as well.

Finally, the clock struck at 5PM – which means we can go home! It has been a productive first day of duty, indeed. We’re looking forward for the next days to come (with all the free food, wifi and stuff). Wish us luck! – CJ Matarlo, April 22
